REQUIEM EARTH is a work composed by Cameron Douglas Craig for chorus, boy's choir, orchestra and film. Originally written as a sountrack for piano/synthesizer for Craig's documentary film series, "Expedition Nature's Realm," Craig orchestrated the individual pieces from the films and added voices and film footage acquired over the last nine years by his students to communicate an important message that humanity is killing the Earth we call home.

Craig begins new work using Film, Choirs and Orchestra

Sitting at his piano, TCPFilms founder and president, Cameron Craig, played through various pieces he wrote for his documentary film series, "Expedition Nature's Realm." Craig had been scarcely working on a death mass over the last twenty years and essentially had no inspiration to complete the work. As he played the opening theme for the film series, he instantly had a thought that included music for a requiem he was trying to finsh over the last two decades but the work would included the film he and his student acquired over the last nine years to convey an important message, "humans are killing the place we call home."

Within a week, three movements of the work were completed and Craig had a further thought that, "the message of the work must be extremely clear." Craig listened to the opening of the second episode of the series entitled, "The Anthropocene Era," narrated by his student and co-owner of TCPFilms, Kevin Jeanes. "If human influence on the natural environment continues, our children will have no other reason but to rename era, the Anthropocene. Although we don't actually see the children saying it, their words are a harsh and disturbing sound that reverberates within our minds." The direct statement Craig originally wrote for the episode influenced the inclusion of children for the requiem.

Once the work is completely composed, Craig's TCPFIlms Family will begin to visualize the work with the film footage they acquired over the nearly decade from the expeditions Craig took them.
