Cameron Douglas Craig is a professor laureate (2010-2011) in the Department of Geology/Geography at Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Craig currently oversees the Broadcast Meteorology program and works with his meteorology students at WEIUs EMMY award winning news program, “NewsWatch.” In addition to his duties, he created the film production company, “Tempestas et Caelum Productions,” that allows students in geography, history, journalism and communication studies to have a platform for researching, exploring distant landscapes and creating documentary films such as “Stinging Dust & Forgotten Lives: The Dust Bowl,” “Expedition Endurance: Without Water, We are Nothing,” and “Expedition Nature’s Realm” for regional PBS stations and classrooms around the world. His company’s newest division, “TCPArts,” was created for the purpose of training students how to film and edit concerts in the university’s Doudna Fine Arts Center and to promote the music department’s talent on a grand scale.
Craig’s recent return to music originates from his youth and as an undergraduate at Indiana State University. A former vocal performance major, Mr. Craig is currently studying under Richard Robert Rossi, Ph.D. toward receiving a Master of Arts in Conducting at Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Craig also writes music that has been used in all of his documentary films.
Mr. Craig’s ultimate goal is to combine all of his fields of study, geography, history, broadcast meteorology and music, to understand the growth, influence and culture of the human spirit to pass on to his students… “A Classroom is not a structure of walls but a window into the world.”
